* Real time line check
Real time line check is usually the first step in the process of reporting a fault. This test is carried out in the service provider test center. This test provides an idea about the nature of the fault and its location.
* Troubleshooting

Our online troubleshooting guide can help you in fixing minor faults. A problem with your phone line can be due to many reasons. It’s not always necessary that problem lies with the telephone network. There are few simple tests that would be of great help.

Carrying out these tests before reporting a fault would help you to save time. Also, you can save money that otherwise you need to pay if an engineer visits your place and the cause of problem lies in your equipment or wiring.

No Incoming Calls

  • Check that your ringer is on. Usually the ringer switch is on the underside of the phone
  • If you use a cordless phone check that it is properly charged
  • If you are using more than one phone in your home, check that all on the hook and ready to receive calls.

Noisy line
If the problem is apparent only on calls to, or from, one particular number then the fault is more likely on the other number.

If you are using a cordless phone – attach another phone with a cord to the socket. After doing so if you find the line clear the problem is more likely with your cordless phone.

Unable to dial out
If you have more than one phone in your home and only one is not working properly, the problem is more likely with your telephone handset.

* Unplug test
Step 1
Unplug all the devices from the telephone sockets like telephones, faxes, PC’s , modems, satellite television or digi-boxes, extension leads or adapters. If you have broadband,unplug any micro-filters and your ADSL modem.

Step 2
Wait 15 minutes

Step 3
Plug a corded phone in all the phone sockets. Check for dial tone. Again, repeat the process using another corded phone to check that the first phone is not the cause of the problem.

Step 4
If the problem occurs only with certain jacks, it is likely caused by faulty wiring or jacks.

Step 5
If still the line is not working properly the problem may exist with the network or wiring. If this is the case, contact your service provider to arrange a technician visit.
